Ma Pi Leng Pass ranks among Vietnam’s most spectacular mountain roads - Mr Linh's Adventures
Ma Pi Leng Pass: The "King of Passes"
Considered one of the four most beautiful passes in Vietnam, the Ma Pi Leng Pass stretches for about 20 km at an altitude of around 1,200 meters, crossing the
karst plateau of Dong Van. The road boldly winds, offering spectacular views of steep cliffs and deep abysses, including the Tu San Gorge where the Nho Que River traces a thin green ribbon below.
Gio Pass: Wild Immensity
At a similar altitude to Ma Pi Leng, the
Gio Pass reveals wild and majestic landscapes, framed by primary forests. This steep and narrow road, carved into the mountain, is an experience in itself. The absence of guardrails on the cliff side intensifies the feeling of vastness and provides stunning panoramas in incredibly pure air.
Encounters at the end of the world - Mr Linh's Adventures
Ta Lang Pass: Towards the Nho Que River
This 8 km pass is a necessary passage to reach the Tu San Gorge. Descending 1500m to the Nho Que River, it is marked by 47 tight turns, half of which are hairpin bends. The road, just wide enough for two motorcycles, balances between cliff and precipice, where mountain clouds mingle. Despite the difficult terrain, the landscapes are spectacular, revealing a magical world of clouds, terraced rice fields, and peaceful villages.
Tham Ma Slope: The Ancient Horse Test
Located on a winding mountain pass of Highway 4C, connecting Ha Giang to Meo Vac, this 5 km slope is famous for its tight turns, steep slopes, and narrow lanes. Historically, it was used to assess the strength of horses, hence its name meaning "horse power test track". From the top, the road winds like a silk ribbon on the mountain, with vertical rock walls and an impressive precipice.

Bac Sum and Chin Khoanh Slopes: RC4 Road in Majesty
These two iconic sections, often associated, offer challenging terrain and memorable views along National Route C4.
The Bac Sum slope, the longest in the province with its 7 km and an altitude of over 450m, connects Minh Tan commune to Quyet Tien. It is not only a vital communication axis but also a major attraction for tourists and motorcyclists, thanks to the majestic beauty of its mountains and forests. It also leads to other picturesque sites like the Twin Mountains of Quan Ba.
The Chin Khoanh slope, which is an integral part of Bac Sum, connects Pho Cao to Sung La. As the name suggests, Chin Khoanh has 9 turns, with 5 being particularly perilous, requiring an experienced driver, especially in rainy weather. From the top, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of cascading fields between scattered houses.
